The US trucking industry faces a persistent driver shortage. Motor carriers spend weeks posting on fragmented job boards, while qualified Class A CDL holders scroll through irrelevant listings. Both sides needed a better way to find each other — fast.
SmartPhone Truckers came to us with a clear vision: build a mobile-first recruitment platform purpose-built for the trucking industry, with a performance guarantee that would set them apart from every other job board.
What We Built
Driver-Facing Mobile App
We built a clean, fast mobile application for iOS and Android using React Native. Drivers create a profile with their licence class, experience, preferred routes, and home location. The matching engine surfaces relevant open positions from verified motor carriers, ranked by compatibility.
The application is deliberately lightweight — drivers are often on the road with limited connectivity, so we optimised aggressively for offline resilience and low-bandwidth operation.
Carrier Dashboard
Motor carriers get a dedicated web dashboard to post job requirements, review incoming applications, and manage their hiring pipeline. The dashboard integrates directly with the mobile app's matching engine, so new postings surface to relevant drivers within seconds of being published.
Real-Time Notification Engine
We built a push notification layer on Firebase Cloud Messaging that delivers instant alerts to drivers when matching positions are posted. This closed the loop that traditional job boards miss: the carrier posts, the driver knows about it within the minute.
Performance Guarantee System
The platform's flagship differentiator is its performance guarantee. We built a verification and tracking layer that logs driver engagement quality throughout the application process — giving carriers the data to back the guarantee and drivers a trusted signal that these are serious, well-paying roles.
